As part of the NSW AFL ongoing commitment to improve the standards of Sydney AFL and its member clubs a task force has been formed to review the options available for Pennant Hills Demons to raise the standard of our playing and other facilities from the lower end among Premier Division Clubs. Our current score across the criteria which places us below the minimum standard could see us losing the right to host home games each season.
The criteria by which each club is evaluated ranges from the dimensions of the playing field and the quality of the lighting to facilities available for players and spectators.
As the potential outcomes of any review will be significant in terms of changes required or investments to be made the taskforce has members from NSWAFL, Hornsby Council and PHAFC.
The prospect of losing any home games threatens the financial stability of the club, yet the amount of money required to get the Ern up to standard is well beyond our ability to finance as well, so we greatly appreciate the support of NSWAFL and Hornsby Council working through the options with us. said PHFC President Peter Campbell. We hope that in the next month we will be in a position to announce an agreed position that suits all parties, is jointly funded and will put us closer to the forefront of ground facilities than our current position. |

AFL is a growing sport in the Hills District thanks to the success of the Sydney Swans winning the 2005 Premiership and making the Grand Final in 2006, AFL has increased its profile in Sydney in leaps and bounds. With prime-time television coverage for the national competition and local coverage of the Sydney Premier League on Foxtel, AFL has a brand awareness envied by other growing sporting competitions.
Pennant Hills AFC will have at least 2 home games televised from the new Blacktown oval (home of GWS second Sydney AFL team) during the 2010 season.
This is your opportunity to associate your business with this growing sport and promote your products and services to our local community.
Pennant Hills AFC is seeking sponsorship from businesses in the Hills area and greater Sydney region. This is a great opportunity for you to align your business with a successful sporting club that represents all facets of the local community. Pennant Hills AFC is a family club with over 130 registered players.
As with all sporting clubs, the success of the Demons rests on the support of the many families that are involved and the generous support of its sponsors.
Please read this prospectus to see the benefits of sponsoring the Pennant Hills Demons in 2010. We look forward to partnering with you in 2010.

Under 18 Coaching Team Announced |

After the departure of Simon Smyth (due to NSW/AFL work commitments), Tony Richardson has been appointed Head Coach for the Under 18 Program based on his vast experience in football and the previous work that he had done in assisting Simon and coaching the Challenge Cup Team.
However the role in 2010 takes on even more responsibility as we nurture the Greater North Alliance with our partners Macquarie University. To ensure that more players get more opportunities to play and develop to their own capabilities Tony has been actively recruiting for assistants. We are very pleased to announce that Matt Thomas and Nathan Varnish have accepted the opportunity to make a contribution to the development of the next wave of footballers coming through this season.
Matt who has consolidated himself as a player of great promise in Premier Division knows that the transition to senior football can be difficult and is looking forward to sharing his experience with the squad. Nathan, last years captain of the Under 18s (and coach if you recall his speech at season launch 2009!) has a great football brain, dogged determination and outstanding skills that will prove an asset in new coaching career.
"It is a great tragedy for the Club that both boys will be unable to play this season due to serious injury, but on the flipside it is great for the Under 18 program that I have two such talented players who can relate to the squad because both of them were in a similar spot themselves not too long ago. I am really pleased for the squad, but also pleased for Matt and Nathan that they have looked beyond their own problems and put up their hands to make a contribution" said Tony Richardson.
We wish Matt, Nathan and Tony all the best for season 2010 and thank them for their willingness to help shape the future of our great Club.
